Dr. Nabeel Akram is a strategic-minded medical and business professional driving health business portfolios globally with an emphasis on the Asia region. Dr. Akram’s dedicated professional experience showcases a history of leading successful program design developments for new business opportunities and proposal writing efforts for the US Government, Corporations, Foundations, and other clients.
A driven and solution minded business leader, Dr. Akram has a proven track record of leading large, diverse teams in 13 countries, securing more than $200m over the years in funding, and having a passion for seeking sustainable, market-based financing solutions for development programs.
Dr. Nabeel Akram received his medical degree from Punjab University Lahore, MSc in Health Policy and Management from Aga Khan University Karachi and before founding Synergies & Impact², has been working with Johns Hopkins University, USA for public health practice as Associate Faculty and in different leadership and management roles including Director for Asia for 15 years.

Akram's mission is to help enterprises through today's digital and cognitive revolution.
Akram has worked extensively in the Middle East, Pakistan, and the African region, and led the IBM Global Consulting group for Middle East, Africa, and Turkey.
Previously, Akram served as the Vice President and Global Sales Executive for Consulting at IBM. In addition, Akram founded IBM's Consulting Global Delivery Centers in Pakistan and South Africa, serving hundreds of people. These centers currently servee IBM clients all over the world.
Our Associates
Dr. Hnin Wai Hlaing is a public health and development specialist having worked in both the public and private sectors for 20+ years. She is best known for her work in advocating for sexual and reproductive health and the rights of adolescents and youth.
In addition, Dr. Hnin Wai Hlaing works with multiple international organizations, governments, professional associations, and regulatory bodies in Myanmar transferring her skills and knowledge across these platforms regionally and globally.
Dr. Hnin Wai Hlaing has received her Masters degree in International Public Health from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, University of Liverpool.
Dr. Zaib Dahar, a Public Health specialist, holds her medical graduate (MBBS) from Peoples Medical College Nawab Shah (present-day Shaheed Benazirabad). She has 21 years of experience providing leadership, management and program development in the field of women’s & children's health.
Having a comprehensive understanding of the healthcare system, Dr. Zaib Dahar has collaborated with government ministries, team members, cooperating agencies, UN Agencies, NGOs, key stakeholders, and medical universities.
Dr. Zaib Dahar has extensive experience implementing evidence-based practices in maternal, newborn & child health (MNCH) programs as well as Family Planning (FP) programs.
Dr. Linda Fogarty is an executive leader and program evaluator with 25+ years of increasing management and leadership responsibility in global and domestic public health. She has primarily focused on designing and implementing mixed-methods research to evaluate programs and address implementation challenges in a range of health areas, and has managed programs with $1M+ budgets to develop organization-wide capacity development initiatives. In addition, Dr. Fogarty is a broadly published peer-reviewed author. She is acknowledged for her ability to develop cohesive and effective teams of committed professionals to address common project and organizational challenges.
Dr. Fogarty received her PhD in public health with an emphasis in health psychology at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Jennifer Guertin brings 20 years of international health experience in reproductive health/family planning and maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH), providing program and technical design planning, management, monitoring, and program development.
From 2008-2015, Jennifer oversaw and managed Jhpiego’s new program development efforts, engaging with high-level donor representatives and strengthening organizational capacity for new program development, focused primarily on securing funds from competitive sources. She served in several program development roles, including both the Associate Director and then the Director for New Program Development, where she supported a three-fold increase in funding.
Guertin holds a Masters in Public Health from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and currently serves as the Associate Director for Donor Engagement at the Gates Institute at the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University.
As the Director of Sohail Inc., Mr. Sohail specializes in project management. Sohail has successfully delivered over 25 research, monitoring and evaluation studies; has led over 10 energy conservation projects; and has designed and facilitated 12 market and private sector development assignments.
He holds a MSc in Local Economic Development from the the London School of Economics to complement his training in Financial Economics, Making Markets Work for the Poor, Gender Inclusion, Results Measurement and Leadership and Management.
I am a qualified chartered accountant with over 20 years of experience in accounting, financial administration, grants management, and financial auditing. Throughout my career, I managed multi-donor projects, ensuring policies and procedures comply with USAID and other donors' rules/regulations, and provided leadership to a finance team.
I've previously worked as Director Finance and Grants for 45 million USAID funded project, Head of Finance and Compliance for a $31 million USAID-funded project and Roving Finance Controller-Global. Additionally, I've worked in emergencies, managing around $30 million budgets in Darfur (Sudan) and $25 million per year budget during the 2010 floods in Pakistan.
Currently, I am working as Director Finance and Admin with Jhpiego Myanmar, responsible for overall financial and operations management and member of the Senior Management Team.
Stephanie Reinhardt, MPH, is an experienced public health and management specialist with over 12 years’ experience providing strategic oversight to health programs globally in the areas of HIV/AIDS, maternal and newborn health, family planning, and health systems strengthening world-wide.
Stephanie has supported the development, implementation, and monitoring of over 20 health programs globally, including annual country portfolios of up to $15 million.
Additionally, she has lived and worked in Myanmar, Lesotho, Zambia, and Zimbabwe working with the Ministries of Health and local development partners to implement evidence-based interventions and support knowledge sharing and capacity building for sustainability.
Gilliane McShane, MID, is a program management professional with 5+ years of international experience in health, education, and youth development. She's experienced in managing international programs in low- and middle-income countries in South Asia, addressing family planning, maternal and newborn health, non-communicable diseases, and health workforce development. Additionally, Gilliane has experience in operational support, capacity building, and supporting new business development through proposal management and donor engagement.
Previously, Gilliane served in the Peace Corps in Ethiopia, teaching English as a foreign language to primary and secondary school-age students as well as teachers. Gilliane received her master's degree in International Development from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs in 2015.
Kara Breen is a public health professional with 7 years of experience. She began her career with the Peace Corps as a Health Educator in Kyrgyzstan and has since worked on development projects in Angola, Belize, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Mozambique, and Myanmar. Kara has provided operational and program management support to projects in the areas of maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS, digital health, health systems strengthening, family planning, and malaria.
Kara is passionate about the intersection of business, innovation, and social impact and holds a BA in International Relations with a minor in Economics from Tufts University.
